We are seeking an individual, who has demonstrated a willing commitment to these values, holding them in high regard, to join our team as Recreation Programs Supervisor.
- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Interacts with employees and the public by answering inquiries, resolving complaints and grievances, responding to emergencies and assisting patrons as needed.
- Orients, trains, and instructs recreation center workers, including full and part time employees, volunteers, contractors, and instructors. Provides regular feedback to assigned staff. Serves as a Manager on Duty (MOD).
- Prepares and adheres to programming/special event budget, prepares monthly financial reports, and revenue generation estimates. Assists in the preparation of the annual recreation center budget.
- Manage facility user agreements for contractual program providers.
- Conducts program and service delivery evaluations periodically using a variety of tools including but not limited to needs assessments, surveys, suggestion boxes, online feedback, email and face-to-face interactions.
- Coordinate with park maintenance and other departments as needed for the effective and safe delivery of recreational programs, activities and/or special events at the Alan E. Sims Recreation Center.
- Plans, organize and implement special event schedule for recreation center with ample time of delivery, such as Daddy Daughter Dance, Anniversary Party, Health Fair and other holiday events. Plans, develops, and promotes a variety of activities/events for user groups.
- Develops and maintains community and corporate donations and partnerships for special events and general recreation programming at the Alan E. Sims Recreation Center.
- Works cooperatively with Recreation Center Manager to analyze and ensure accountability of center inventory. Providing back up support and representing the Recreation Center on behalf of the Recreation Center Manager, as needed.
- Actively participate in Recreation Center leadership team, including attending meetings, providing constructive feedback and suggestions, working cooperatively with all levels within the organization.
- Plan, develop, implement, and promote programming in partnership with other agencies.
- Assists in the planning, development and execution of Citywide special events and activities.
- Manage instructor paperwork, including contracts, contract requirements and payment of invoices.
- Acquire and post all current certificates, licenses, permits and operation requirements for programming including but not limited to food permits, occupancy requirements and teaching licenses.
- Responsible for class registration records. Maintain data on recreation center attendance and class participation. Complete forms and maintain records as required.
- Perform miscellaneous duties shared by other staff such as answering the phone, typing correspondence, taking registration and reservations, picking up supplies, attending meetings associated with job functions, making cash deposits, etc. Fill in within other areas of the Recreation Center, as necessary.
- Enforces operating policies and procedures, evaluates their effectiveness, and recommends changes.
- Stay up to date on industry trends through peer networking and regular professional development opportunities.
- Represent the City’s values and culture through actions, words, and work product. Foster a positive and productive team-oriented work environment.
- Regular attendance required, including rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical Knowledge field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a bachelor’s degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred; however, any equivalent combination of education and experience (over the minimum requirement of three years) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Three (3) years of progressive experience in a recreation center, or closely related field. Experience in developing and managing youth, adult and teen programs is preferred.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License. Current CPRP Certification and experience with Active Net Software preferred.
- Possession of or ability to obtain within six months: CPR/AED Certification, First Aid.
Salary : $53,648 - $65,000
