The Position
JOB SUMMARY
The Cedar Park Public Library is seeking to hire an experienced and innovative part-time Makerspace Specialist to coordinate STEM and Maker programming for all ages at the new Library. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive knowledge of learning theory and a passion for experiential learning. They will be customer-focused, creative and enthusiastic. They will also be an engaging public speaker, a collaborative team member, adept at a wide range of technology solutions, possess excellent communication skills, and enjoy working with community members of all ages, backgrounds, learning styles and abilities. Start date flexible; goal is late spring or early summer.
Must be able to work on 1 weekend day and 1-2 evenings per week.
- Schedules, prepares, plans, coordinates, presents and evaluates ongoing programs and special events in the makerspaces;
- Collaborates with Asst. Director to prepare for learning experiences and reflect on learning (to inform lessons and curriculum planning)
- Leads in the design of Makerspace programs and curriculums
- Collect, analyze, and use program survey feedback / data to drive high quality experiences and outcomes
- Oversee daily operations of the makerspaces and makerspace equipment, including space organization, calendar management, management of inventory, and maintenance of equipment,
- Lead workshops, classes, and hands-on learning projects for customers of different ages and learning styles;
- Provide customers with technology assistance and training;
- Develop and sustain partnerships with local community organizations;
- Keep up to date with new technology and trends in order to recommend future additions / upgrades to the makerspaces;
- Collection and submission of statistical data and reports;
- Perform such other related duties as may be required.
