About this Opportunity
Conducts field inspections for both right of way permit work and private development projects to ensure general conformance with municipal code, plans, specifications, and public safety standards are met.The City of Cedar Rapids does not offer sponsorship for employment authorization. Duties & Responsibilities
- Reviews current and proposed private development or property owner construction activities under right-of-way permits for compliance with approved plans and city requirements.
- Schedules and conducts right-of way inspections including pre and final inspections of permitted work including sidewalks, ADA ramps, utility placement, sanitary sewer taps, roadway patches, and restoration.
- Conducts inspections on private development projects to ensure general conformance to the plans and specifications.
- Verifies that work in city right of way has been properly permitted and meets City specifications and standards.
- Documents inspections via daily reports and maintains permits using applicable City software.
- Responds to public and contractors’ questions and concerns; conducts field reviews in response to inquiries as necessary
- Tracks, reports and enforces removal of unapproved work.
- Attends meetings with various stakeholders on upcoming projects.
- Performs related work as required.
- Associate's Degree Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Math, Science, or related field and
- One (1) to three (3) years’ experience working in the construction field and working with engineering documents/site plans or
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Iowa DOT PCC Tech 1 or ACI Concrete Testing Technician within 1 year
- Iowa DOT Erosion Control Basics within 6 months
- ATSSA Traffic Control Technician within 6 months
Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm
Salary : $58,531 - $76,086
