Supervises and performs the daily operations of the Cedar Rapids transit department.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises and monitors the day-to-day transit operations
- Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations
- Tracks, identifies, and plans routes and detours
- Evaluates route sheets, pre/posts drivers, and inspections for accuracy and completeness
- Responds and resolves incidents, injuries, accidents, schedule delays, detours, service problems, equipment issues and/or other service interruptions
- Participates in periodic reviews of transit routes for proper location of bus stops and bus stop signs and periodic driving evaluations of all transit
- Follows all safety protocols, requirements, procedures, and complies with the city’s safety training and established laws in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation, Americans with Disabilities Act in order to maintain a safe and reliable transit service operation
- Assists with passenger complaints, driver accidents, and all other matters
- Attends conferences, committees, and meetings, recommends and evaluates transit service level and transit training program changes
- Performs related work as required
- High School diploma or equivalency and
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience of work in mass transit or school bus operations or
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License (Class B) with passenger and airbrake endorsements and valid Medical Examiners Certificate
- Monday to Friday 12:00pm to 8:30pm with a rotating Saturday once per month
Salary : $67,392 - $94,370
