About the Position
Assists WPC Operations staff in the testing and evaluation of processes to sustain on-going Water Pollution Control programs for the City of Cedar Rapids. Some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative.
The City of Cedar Rapids does not offer sponsorship for employment authorization. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Collects wastewater/groundwater samples from a variety of point sources and delivers them to the laboratory for processing as per standard operating procedures;
- Reads and records data from recorders, gauges, computer console and various instrumentation;
- Records operational data and observations;
- Runs pumps, air compressors and motor drives to do job;
- Performs data entry related to respective daily work assignments;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices;
- Attends work regularly at the designated place and time;
- Performs related work as required.
Acceptable Experience and Training
- 1-2 years of technical training or study towards a degree in chemistry, biology, physical sciences, or water environmental technology preferred
- OR
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience (i.e., one year of relevant experience may substitute for one year of education)
Required Special Qualifications
Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Salary : $15 - $17
