Position Title: Urban Forestry Specialist
Description: This position provides a unique and diverse learning experience for a person interested in Urban Forestry. The primary job duty will be treatment of public ash trees to prevent damage from Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Other duties may include street tree pruning, maintenance and removal; and GIS tree inventory work.
Under supervision of the City Forester, and/or City Arborist, performs trunk injection treatments for EAB, operates dump trucks, tractors, brush chipper chainsaws, hand tools, GPS, and other mechanical and safety equipment. This position offers an opportunity for Internship. Cedarburg’s historic community (Pop. 11,500) manages over 7,500 public trees and is located in Ozaukee County, 20 miles north of Milwaukee.
Period of Employment:
- 14 weeks, dependent on student's school schedule.
- Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, from mid-May until the end of August.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability and willingness to perform labor intensive activities and able to lift 50 lbs.
- A high degree of self-motivation, a strong work ethic, good organizational skills, and the ability to work safely and effectively alone or as part of a crew.
- Be willing to work outdoors all day under varying weather conditions.
- Ability to interact positively with the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A basic knowledge of tree ID, forest entomology, tree biology and physiology.
- A freshman, sophomore, or junior currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an AS or BS program with an emphasis in Urban Forestry, Arboriculture, or closely related field.
