If so, then consider applying to be a Seasonal Laborer II for 2025.
Our Seasonal Laborers are limited-term positions in the Forestry Section of the Public Works Department. Positions are available from April 21 – October 5, 2025. Employees in this position are eligible for paid sick, personal, and vacation leave, and City holidays. Additional benefits include health, life, dental, and vision insurance.
Responsibilities of Position
Seasonal Laborers perform landscape maintenance activities on City properties, such as litter control, turf establishment and maintenance, annual and perennial plant and bulb installation, weeding, edging landscape beds and sidewalks, mulching landscape beds and around trees, power washing sidewalks and hardscape amenities, watering plant material, installation of landscape stone and timbers, and minor pruning of perennials and shrubs. They use various hand tools, weed eaters, blowers, push mowers, walk behind mowers, edgers, zero turn riding mowers, power washers, small dump trucks, and various trailers. Equipment training is available, if needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid current driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Physical condition necessary to perform the duties of the job, including bending, climbing, and lifting, loading, unloading, and maneuvering a variety of materials such as brush, limbs and mulch weighing up to 70 pounds, with or without accommodation.
- Ability to perform duties effectively in extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
- Experience in landscape and turf maintenance.
- Experience in the use of common equipment and tools, such as mowers, trimmers, trailers, shovels, and rakes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Planting experience with a variety of plant types; annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, and bulbs.
- Experience operating a variety of vehicles related to landscape maintenance such as one ton dump trucks and skid steers.
- Experience with operating pressure washers and water pumps.
- Customer service experience.
Drug screening will be required. The salary is $18.87 per hour, plus an excellent fringe benefits package. Applications should be submitted online no later than Sunday, February 23, 2025.
