Recreation Specialist- Tumbleweed Recreation Center

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Recreation Specialist at Tumbleweed Recreation Center. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and occasional evenings/weekends as needed.

Who we are looking for 

Our new team members will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are seeking an individual who has worked with the senior population and can deliver exceptional front-desk customer service. Accuracy and cash-handling skills are vital to this position. A successful team member will have the skills to plan and supervise recreational activities and programs while working at the front- desk.

Minimum Qualifications 

• A High School Diploma or GED; and 

• 2 Years of experience in a youth recreation or adult activity program; and

• A First Aid/CPR Certification upon hire or promotion; and 

• A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or 

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. 

Desired Qualifications 

• Strong interpersonal skills 

• Experience working with the senior (55 ) population and the ability to interact effectively with the public 

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 

• Experience with recreation management and registration software 

This is a regular full-time position subject to a 6-month probationary period. Should another position become available, a register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.
