General Summary

Our camps are designed to provide children a fun, safe, and inspiring environment where they learn, grow, and play! Campers will participate in active play through sports, cooperative games, outdoor activities, arts and crafts, enrichment programs, pool days, and field trips.
The hiring amount for this position is $15.50 an hour. This is a non-exempt, temporary (variable / limited-hour) position, and is not eligible for city benefits.
This position performs a variety of duties related to assisting all leaders in camp program activities, supervision, and operations; which may be comprised of a children, youth, and / or young adults with or without disabilities. Primarily and most frequently, work is performed under direct supervisor within one functional area and of a routine nature. Reports to the Assistant Camp Director or Camp Director.
Important Dates and Time Commitments for the Parks & Recreation 2025 Summer Camp Season are indicated below.
Mandatory Staff Training :
- Dates : June 9-13 (Monday-Friday)
- Hours : 9 : 00 AM-5 : 00 PM each day
- Attendance : Required
2025 Summer Camp Season :
7 : 30 AM-3 : 30 PM
Optional Adventure Camp :
7 : 30 AM-3 : 30 PM

Physical Conditions & Additional Information
Physical requirements of this position as outlined by the Department of Labor : MEDIUM : work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing for pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident and random testing. Dependent upon assignment, a majority of time spent in this position involves outside work which may involve extreme temperatures, extreme brightness and / or blood-borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
