POSITION DETAILS
Seasonal Position: 8 Months, Start Date: 3/3/2025, End Date: 10/31/2025
Hours: 40 Hours/Week, 1360 hours Total
POSITION PURPOSE
This position performs all aspects of maintenance and landscape labor in various parts of the parks system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Greeting the public using positive public relations and image to the City’s benefit
- Maintain park grounds by performing repairs utilizing hand, gas or electric tools and equipment
- Irrigate park grounds and RV park requiring knowledge of sprinkler operations and repair
- Collect litter within park system
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mow and trim park grounds and sidewalk areas using gas, electric or hand tools.
- Assist with minor construction and repairs, painting, cleaning of facilities, i.e., restrooms and litter control when needed
- Assist in maintenance of landscape and flower beds in all city parks
- Prune trees, scrubs, and bushes.
- Assist Park Maintenance staff with utility systems, i.e., water, sewer, garbage and electrical when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an outside environment and may be subject to heavy lifting
- Job is subject to shift work Monday through Sunday and holidays
- May be exposed to biological waste
- Prolonged standing and bending in all weather conditions
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to understand and speak English
- Must be able to hear directions given
- Must be able to see when operating gas and electric equipment
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS FOR SUCCESS
- Knowledge of safety and general maintenance practices and repair methods
- Ability to operate general maintenance equipment such as mowers, utility carts, power tools, tractors, and manual transmission vehicles
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
- Ability to work individually and stay on task without constant supervision
- Ability to work as a member of a team
