POSITION DETAILS
Seasonal Position: 7 Months, Start Date: 4/1/2025, End Date: 10/31/2025
Hours: Part Time 20 Hours/Week, 600 hours Total
POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
This position assists the Golf Maintenance Supervisor in implementing long term maintenance programs and ensures that the day-to-day state of the golf course is kept in quality condition.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes positive public relations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the public.
- In the absence of the Golf Maintenance Supervisor, oversees, plans schedules and coordinates the golf course maintenance activities.
- Mows greens and fairways; roughs bunkers and tee areas; cleans and rakes sand traps; maintains ball washers and related facilities; changes cup and tee placements.
- Identifies turf diseases; takes soil samples; mixes and applies pesticides, fertilizers, algaecides, and herbicides; aerifies, seeds, top dresses turf, and lays sod; plants and maintains plants.
- Constructs, installs, and repairs golf course sod according to design plans and diagrams.
- Adjusts automatic irrigation system controller to provide proper and timely irrigation at each watering location.
- Performs limited repairs, typically of an emergency nature, of mainline, laterals, valves, and heads down line from the double check valves pump and vacuum breaker.
- Performs various landscape work such as raking, digging, tree planting, pruning bushes, cutting brush, and applying chemicals.
- Trims, prunes, and sprays trees; removes stumps; chips branches and grinds stumps; fells small to moderate sized trees.
- Works with a variety of power and hand tools, tractors and riding mowers.
- Performs minor equipment maintenance, repairs small engines.
- Changes fuses; makes adjustments to electronic irrigation system.
- Reads work orders and obtains needed supplies; completes forms and writes simple reports on work; maintains accurate records of time and materials used.
- Leads the work of and seasonal workers in performing the golf course maintenance and repair work listed below.
- Trains, instructs, and oversees the work of assigned seasonal employees; coordinates assignments among employees and work groups; supervises and inspects work in progress.
- Performs related work as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
May be required to work nights, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Required to stand, walk, bend, or operate machinery or a vehicle for extended periods of time. Frequently required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds; may occasionally be required to lift heavier objects. May be required to handle or work with toxic substances. Required to perform physical labor for extended periods of time. Required to work outdoors in all types of weather.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Development (GED.
- Three years of work experience, including experience as a lead worker, directly related to the duties described above, preferably in a golf course environment (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BUT NT REQUIRED
Agronomy Degree (4 or 2 year) from an accredited educational institution.
Licensing and Other Requirements
Valid Washington State Driver's License with driving record free from serious or frequent violation.
