POSITION SUMMARY (Full description follows below)
Under the direction of the Library Director, responsible for the overall operation of the Children's Department at the Chelsea Public Library. Incumbent functions independently within the broad scope of Library policies and goals, referring personnel decision and policy revisions to the Library Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Library Science or related field from an accredited college or university program.
· Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university is strongly preferred.
· Requires three (3) years of professional library experience, including previous work with children.
· A combination of specialized training, education, and/or experience will be considered.
· Prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate needed skills, the ability to interact with the general public in a helpful manner, and perform tasks required with accuracy and dependability.
· Must be sufficiently familiar with modern library equipment and the technology used for library purposes to perform all the job functions.
· Education or experience to display sufficient knowledge of the modern library and the technology used for library purposes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
· Design and facilitate Library's programs and services to children; make recommendations on program and service changes and improvements to the Director.
