Job Description
TThe City of Chesapeake’s Department of Information Technology is looking for a driven, detail-savvy professional to become the go-to expert for all things procurement and accounts payable on our Financial Team!
In this key role, you’ll keep our operations running smoothly by managing requisitions, verifying contracts for invoice approvals, reconciling vendor and purchase order statements, and making sure every financial move aligns with the City’s procurement policies.
You’ll be the department’s subject matter expert (SME) in our City’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, PeopleSoft—crafting and managing requisitions, matching invoices to POs, and guiding our tech teams through the ins and outs of procurement in both OpenGov and PeopleSoft.

Candidate should have experience in the following areas:
  • Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Reconciling accounts payable information
  • Reconciling purchase order information
  • Preparing and maintaining various financial reports in Excel
  • Matching contract information including pricing to requisitions for goods and services
  • Manage and implement approximately 300 requisitions to invoices per month
  • Research and reply to vendor inquiries and solve related billing issues

Required Qualifications
Vocational/Educational Requirement: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field.

Experience: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

Special Requirements: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
