Emergency Services is a 24/7 program as such employees are scheduled to work holidays and will accrue accelerated leave to compensate. If the employee requests the holiday off, leave is submitted.
Available schedules: Overnight
Tuesday- Saturday 3:00pm to 11:30pm or 3:30pm to 12:00am

Job Description

Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare is looking for a Clinician II (#Counselor #Clinical Social Worker #Casemanager) for the Emergency Services division.
  • Position serves as a Clinician in Emergency Services, a 24-hour mandated service providing triage, crisis intervention, and pre-admission screening evaluations to individuals located in the city of Chesapeake.
  • Position provides pre-admission screening and crisis intervention to 24-hour Emergency Services unit and the CIT Assessment Center.
  • Position performs risk assessments to determine the appropriate level of care, utilizing the least restrictive alternative to manage crisis. Advocates for individuals requiring inpatient treatment, crisis stabilization or DETOX services. Utilizes DSM-V to diagnose mental health, substance abuse, developmental and other disorders.
  • Consults with magistrate regarding obtaining TDOs and ECOs to promote safety of individuals and the community. Maintains documentation in EMR in compliance with agency quality assurance standards. May provide 30-day crisis interventions services to individuals who may require short-term solution focused interventions
  • Requires experience in crisis intervention and diagnosis in DSM-V; clinical experience with populations including serious mental illness, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
  • Clinician must possess the ability to relate and communicate with various populations, make commitment-related decisions, analyze psycho-social data, and communicate ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Candidate must possess knowledge of state statutes, pre-admission screening criteria and the commitment process.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field or another degree as approved by the Virginia Department of Health Professions
Requires master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Rehabilitation.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
  • Requires a valid driver’s license a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards.
  • Requires Qualified Mental Health Professional-Adult (QMHP-A).
  • Pre-Screening Certification within 6 weeks of hire.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

Preferred Qualifications
Must currently have, or obtain within 3 months after hire, Preadmission Screening Certification by the Department of Behavioral Health and Disability Services (DBHDS)

Prefer candidate eligible for Licensure in Virginia as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Registered Nurse, or Clinical Social Worker

As such, applicants for this position are subject to pre-employment drug/alcohol testing after receiving a conditional offer of employment and may also be subject to random testing. Possession of a medical marijuana card will not excuse an applicant from the testing process; however, a test will not be considered positive for marijuana if a valid medical marijuana certification is presented unless the position requires a commercial driver’s license (CDL) or is a sworn law-enforcement officer/deputy.
