Job Description
Chesapeake Community Programs is seeking an experienced and caring individual who will oversee the daily operation of the Resource Center for those experiencing homelessness, and assisting in securing housing for those accessing services at the Center and other clients of the Department of Human Services. The position will also supervise, direct, train and evaluate the Center Coordinator and an Outreach Specialist. Serves as primary contact for housing assistance for those experiencing homelessness; ascertains the housing needs and available resources of persons seeking assistance and works with them to determine what is available; locate landlords and rental properties; and coordinates process of lease-up and landlord requirements. Also responsible for maintaining client, landlord, and other data as needed. This position is responsible for the coordination of vendors for the center and facilitating the direction of all volunteers.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires a bachelor’s degree, or education and training equivalent to four years of college education, in business administration, public administration or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of five years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Also requires CPR and First Aid Certification.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience assisting citizens with housing needs, working with landlords, securing housing, working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, and coordinating or managing shelter operations. Supervisory experience needed.
