As an Engineer in our Engineering Department, you'll be part of a team managing heavy civil capital construction projects, reviewing private development projects, executing annual service, maintenance and emergency response contracts, all while interacting with a team of dedicated professionals both internal and external to the City. From inception to construction, you will play a crucial role in turning conceptual plans into tangible and successful construction projects, driving progress, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT :
Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
Non-degreed applicants must have two years of experience in addition to the degree equivalency.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
No experience for Engineer I.
Two years of experience for Engineer II
Five years of experience for Engineer III - Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES :
Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City Driving Standards .
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and / or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
- Engineer I : A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Engineer II : A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field and two (2) years of related, full-time equivalent experience. Engineer-In-Training ( EIT ) or Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred.
- Engineer III : A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field and five (5) years of related, full-time equivalent experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
