The City of Chesapeake is seeking an experienced Financial Systems Analyst to support the City and Schools PeopleSoft Financials system. This role serves as the primary liaison between Finance and Information Technology, ensuring collaboration on application security, training, and process improvements. The Financial Systems Analyst will provide exceptional customer service by engaging with all City departments, addressing system-related issues, and providing solutions. In addition to technical expertise, this role involves customer-facing responsibilities, including business process reviews, committee participation, and in-person training. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively supporting users, explaining technical concepts, and developing positive working relationships across departments.
Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business management, finance, information technology, information sciences, or a closely related field.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards .
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : In addition to satisfying the vocational / education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and / or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing security for Peoplesoft or other financial system
- Experience using ServiceNow ITSM or other service desk software
- Experience providing technical user training in individual and group settings
- Experience documenting processes and creating system documentation
- Experience writing and running queries in PeopleSoft or other financial systems to analyze data and troubleshoot issues
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Local government experience
