Job Description
Are you an experienced digital visual communicator, able to bring life to the stories of our City through the camera lens? Are you able to multitask in a fast-paced environment of shooting and editing? Are you a team player, ready to make a difference in your community? If so, this position is waiting for you to apply.
Tasks to include:
Captures video and audio footage, using a variety of equipment, software, techniques and tools.
Edits video footage, self-captured and stock, together with graphics and other elements, into completed digital products for use online and/or via television.
Develops and creates still and motion graphics for various uses.
Works with departmental and City staff to determine interview topics, conduct interviews, and prepare appropriate visuals for message development.
Creates training and related internal communication videos, including working with staff inside and outside department.
Supports Chesapeake Television studio and remote productions, as needed, by operating cameras, working in control room, and pre- and post-production logistics.
Maintains equipment and troubleshoots problems to determine solutions.
Performs related tasks as necessary such as driving to sites for fieldwork and operating character generator.
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Vocational/Educational Requirement: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in digital communications, digital video or a closely related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses: Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Required certification/training in the use of Adobe video editing software.
Special Requirements:Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
