What are the responsibilities and job description for the Storekeeper I position at City of Chesapeake?
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of, and/or outside of, their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

As a Storekeeper I, you will play a critical role in ensuring our Maintenance & Operations team have the materials and equipment they need to maintain the water and sanitary sewer systems in good repair. Your responsibilities will include:
- Verifying quantity and quality of inventory items received against invoices, and reports discrepancies; unpacks and stores items; enters items into database.
- Initiating requisitions/purchase orders for replacement of standard stock items in accordance with established procedures; following up on outstanding requisitions/purchase orders.
- Assembling, recording, packaging, and delivering stock items to user departments, issuing stock and tools to individuals.
- Collecting used parts/equipment; includes information on order form to support replacement or repair of same.
- Taking orders for special items not carried in stock.
- Driving truck to pick up parts/equipment from suppliers, returning parts for credit, or matching up parts; picking up office supplies as needed.
- Restocking shelves and routinely cleaning inventory storage area.
- Recording work orders, including date and time, for supervisor to order requested inventory items for particular jobs.
- Maintaining blanket ledger account in access database; inputting receipt expenditure in blanket account ledger, and material receipt in stock database.
- Overseeing employee uniforms.
- Completing special projects such as building crates to ship parts/equipment back to vendors, building shelves, preparing sandbags, and/or moving supplies.
- Maintaining clerical records and preparing routine reports. Assisting with taking of periodic and special inventories; preparing periodic stock inventory list.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of three months of full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliancewith the City Driving Standards.

As such, applicants for this position are subject to pre-employment drug/alcohol testing after receiving a conditional offer of employment and may also be subject to random testing.
