JOB TITLE:                 Driver

CLASSIFICATION:    Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT:        Public Works/Transfer Station

SUPERVISOR:          Collection Foreman and/or Transfer Station Manager

SALARY:                    $39,749 to $47,698 Annually

Perform sanitation collection services for commercial and residential accounts for the city; to deliver sanitation to designated site; and to perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities on sanitation heavy equipment, Transfer station and throughout the city.

• Collect solid waste throughout the entire city including scheduled stops, extra stops illegal dumps or any other sanitation collection for the city. Includes all commercial and residential waste produced throughout the city.
• Perform daily pre/post trips on all sanitation equipment. Record and report all daily logs through fleetmind or paper copies.
• Operate and maintain all assigned sanitation equipment. Including, rear load packers, automated front loads, automated side loads, rolloffs, tractor trailer, flatbed pickups, or any other sanitation equipment.
• Ensure sanitation route or other assigned stops are serviced to 100% completion each day.
• Perform routine sanitation cleaning on all sanitation equipment, facilities, and city property.
• Utilize fleetmind system for collections, daily reports, and exceptions.
• Perform all assigned duties and work activities according to safe work practices and procedures.

• Wear designated PPE when required – Hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and gloves.
• Clean assigned areas around Cheyenne where solid waste have accumulated.
• Help promote safe working practices and encourage others to follow safety policies.
• Report any obstructions that impede operations to supervisor.
• Clean and maintain corrals/ collection areas by picking up extra items placed outside of container for pick up.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of sanitation collection.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Ability to perform sanitation services for commercial accounts for the city.
• Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, or local laws, regulations, or ordinances.
• Ability to deliver solid waste to the designated facility.
• Knowledge of city streets layout.
• Ability to operate Class B CDL sanitation equipment
• Ability to perform minor maintenance activities on sanitation heavy equipment.

Required:

High School diploma or GED.

Wyoming Class B Commercial Driver's License

Preferred:

One (1) years of increasing responsibility in sanitary services including the collection and delivery of solid waste.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities. Ability to hold and maintain a class A or B CDL.

Working Environment:

Travel from site to site; field environment; exposure to noise, dust, smoke, fumes, gases, infectious materials, and inclement weather conditions; work around heavy sanitation equipment.
