Employment Status: UFCW Admin, Full-Time (35 Hours/Week)
Salary: Grade: A03, Step 01 - $19.45/Hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00AM-5:00PM
Certifications/Licenses Required: High School diploma or equivalent, with accounting, secretarial, or business courses.
SUMMARY
The City of Chicopee’s Collector’s Office is hiring a Clerk who is responsible for extensive customer service and may include processing excise bills, processing money and payments, balancing check books, entering and processing parking tickets and other administrative functions in the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Performs all aspects excise bills including sending out excise demands, balancing excise abatements, entering demand fees and warranties on excise bills, and producing reports for auditing.
- Process money collected from Collector's office.
- Balance check books.
- Processes payments received by mail or payment box.
- Enters parking tickets and balances accounts.
- Processes parking ticket payments into deputy collector system.
- Process incoming mail to the department.
- Handle money collected from residents in person.
- Provides customer service in person, by phone, by email, or by other means.
- Performs similar or related work as required

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent, with accounting, secretarial, or business courses. - Preferred
- One to up to (1-3) three years of experience in a responsible secretarial position, preferably in a municipal setting, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Banking experience or maintaining and balancing a cash drawer. - Preferred
