Employment Status: UFCW Laborers, Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)
Salary: Grade: 4L, Step 05 - $17.70/Hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00AM-4:00PM
Certifications/Licenses Required: MA Class D Driver's License, Certification in First Aid CPR/AED
SUMMARY
The City of Chicopee’s Council on Aging is hiring a Full Time Driver who will use one of the two lift equipped vans, or cars to provide door to door transportation to elders for medical, legal, and grooming appointments as well as shopping, banking, trips to pharmacies, and transportation to and from the Senior Center. Drivers are not required to carry packages for individuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Meet with the Transportation Coordinator to review the assigned schedule for the day. The driver should know exactly how to get to assigned locations.
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting of the vehicle. Ensure passengers have fastened seatbelts.
- Transport passengers courteously and safely obeying all applicable traffic laws.
- At the end of the shift the driver should return the schedule and give the feeds collected to the Transportation Coordinator. The driver should also report any concerns they may have about a passenger and report any issues they had with the vehicle they were driving.
- Driver should confirm availability for their next scheduled shift prior to leaving for the day.
- If assigned, the driver will perform the weekly vehicle inspection for all vehicles and complete inspection sheet.
- Driver will take vehicles to authorized car wash as needed.
- Operate the vehicle's two-way radio using proper communications on an open radio channel.
- Shred office documents daily.
- Deliver COA mail to post office.
- Ensure confidentiality of all information regarding the Senior Center and its clients.
- Drivers are responsible for following accident procedures and occupational health and safety policies.
- Check messages in the absence of the transportation coordinator.
- Responsible for meal and/or other special pickups and/or deliveries.
- Drivers should report all accidents to the transportation coordinator, or the director/assistant director.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a valid MA Class D Driver's License. – Required
- Certification in First Aid CPR/AED. - Required
- Must have a satisfactory CORI result.
- Driver must be able to physically perform all the duties satisfactorily.
- Must have knowledge of Chicopee and surrounding community requirements
- Must be available for Full time hours including Nights and Weekends.
