(16 Hours/Week)
Salary: Grade A01, Step 01 - $16.10/Hour
Schedule: Varies; Mon-Fri & Sat/Sun
Certifications/Licenses Required: High School Diploma/G.E.D.
SUMMARY
The City of Chicopee’s Public Library is hiring a Part-Time Library Associate who will perform a variety of library circulation and clerical procedures with a high degree of public contact working primarily during evening and weekend hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Charges, discharges and renews books, and other library holdings at the public service desk using an automated circulation system.
- Receives incoming calls providing routine information or refers and transfers calls.
- Greets visitors to the Library.
- Assists customers with directional-type questions and refers inquiries to reference services
- Registers patrons for library cards.
- Follows prescribed routine in receiving compensation for overdue, damaged or lost library items.
- Assists with opening/closing procedures.
- Sorts materials into bins for interlibrary loan, as needed.
- Sorts materials for re-shelving and re-shelves materials as needed.
- Operates a variety of standard office and library machines.
- Retrieves and processes materials placed on hold by patrons.
- Assists in assuring accurate library shelving by shelf-reading and re-shelving of materials, as needed.
- Organizes work according to established procedures.
- Performs related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree. - Preferred
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. – Preferred
- Prior Library experience. – Preferred
- Experience using C/WMARS circulation system. - Preferred
