Temporary Laborer
Department: DPW - Parks
Employment Status: Chapter 7 Ordinance, Non-Exempt, Seasonal (Hours As Needed/Varies)
Salary: $15.00/Hour
Schedule: Mon – Fri; 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Certifications/Licenses Required: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SUMMARY
The City of Chicopee’s Department of Public Work’s, Parks Division is hiring a Temporary Laborer who will be required to be an integral part of the maintenance division performing various job duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Performs miscellaneous skilled and unskilled manual duties in the maintenance and care of recreation areas, athletic fields, athletic fields, park and playground equipment.
- Lines playing fields.
- Plants trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Replaces grass.
- Repair fences, water fountains, drainage systems, swings, slides, and other playground equipment.
- Paints and does other maintenance work.
- Performs other related unskilled labor duties such as cleaning debris and leaf removal.
- May also operate weedwhacker.
- Tree cutting and removal.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Required
- Some experience in maintenance work involving turf maintenance and other skilled/unskilled job duties. - Required
- General knowledge or parks and recreation department operations. - Required
