Senior Engineer/Engineer

The City of Cincinnati Department of Transportation and Engineering (DOTE) is seeking an engineer to join their Complete Streets team and work on cutting-edge public infrastructure projects including streets, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, multiuse trails, and transit infrastructure.

The ideal candidate should understand the value that walking, biking, and taking transit bring to an urban environment and be passionate about designing safe streets and increasing equitable transportation options. This position enjoys the benefits of being involved in the entire life cycle of a project from planning, conceptual design, detailed design, to construction.

DOTE Civil Engineer Responsibilities:

• Design and manage infrastructure projects
• Develop project concept plans and estimates
• Prepare construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Develop traffic control (pavement marking and signage) plans
• Engage with the community (project presentation, neighborhood plans)
• Conduct site visits throughout the life of the project
• Provide guidance and support to construction crews and contractors during construction
• Manage consultants and review plans/submittals
• Participate as a team member for other DOTE projects
• Perform traffic modeling (Synchro)
• Conduct safety studies and develop countermeasures
• Assist with grant writing
• Work with other City Departments and regional organizations (ODOT, OKI)
• Plan and design projects using NACTO guidelines and Vision Zero principles

Candidate Qualifications:

Minimum

·        Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field

Preferred

·        Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

·        P.E. license (or obtain within 6 months of employment); will accept EI with expectation to obtain PE when eligible.

·        Passion for Complete Street design

·        Ability to work as a member of a team and independently

Salary

• $85,737.96 - $115,224.65 Annually (Senior Engineer - P.E. License)
• $67,019.43 - $90,068.51 Annually (Engineer)
