This internship provides meaningful, hands-on experience in municipal compliance, policy development, and internal process documentation, and is ideal for students studying Business Law, Public Administration, Compliance, Political Science, or a related field. This role will be a great fit for someone interested in how policy, compliance, and communication intersect in a public sector setting—and offers a chance to leave a lasting operational resource for the department.

Primary Responsibilities:

Drafting and editing content related to internal policies, compliance updates, and procedural communications for newsletters, the City’s website, and other internal channels.
Reviewing and updating website content to ensure it accurately reflects current departmental policies and standards.
Completing a comprehensive Policies and Procedures Manual for the Economic Inclusion Department by gathering, organizing, and formalizing existing documents from shared drives and other internal resources.
Compiling a centralized training manual by integrating pre-existing content with newly developed materials to support internal consistency and knowledge sharing.

Additional responsibilities may include assisting with internal audits of communication workflows, maintaining version control of policy documents, and supporting departmental alignment with citywide compliance standards.

In order to qualify for the Intern/Co-op/Extern Program, a student must:
  • Be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or a non-citizen with proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Individuals under eighteen will require a work permit

  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to interpret and document processes clearly and concisely
  • Familiarity with digital content management tools and file organization systems
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage independent projects
  • Currently enrolled specifically in Business Law, Public Administration, Compliance, Political Science, or a related field program
