What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUPERVISOR OF WATER DISTRIBUTION MAINTENANCE (NON-COMPETITIVE) position at City of Cincinnati?
The Supervisor of Water Distribution Maintenance position is responsible for overseeing various sections within the distribution division, including Repair, Valve, Lead. The duties involve coordinating operations, directing staff, and ensuring the maintenance and repair of the distribution system. They are the fundamental leaders of the organization and set the path for how the Division performs and lay out the guidelines for what is expected on a day-to-day basis.
This employee supervises and coordinates operations within the Water Works Department as well as oversees activities within Premise Services, Maintenance and Operations, Support Services, and Lead and Tampering sections and directs and supervises the efforts of clerical staff, Field Service Representatives, distribution system maintenance and operations staff, meter readers, and other staff involved in the maintenance and development of water sites and customer service. Employee participates as senior staff member for the department and provides responsible assistance to department management staff. Performs related duties as required.

Each applicant must have a high school diploma (or GED equivalency); and
Five (5) years experience working within a municipal water utility, with at least two years experience at a supervisory level, managing the performance of employees who perform water distribution, supply, repair, maintenance, customer service or inspection activities.Relevant education may be substituted for up to two years of the experience requirement.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Must be an excellent communicator and team builder.
Positions in the Distribution Section of the Water Works Department: Must have or have the ability to obtain a Class I Water Distribution Professional Operator Certification, Class I Water Supply Professional Operator Certification, or Kentucky Drinking Water Distribution IV Operator Certification during the probationary period.
Positions in the Commercial Section of the Water Works Department: Must have or have the ability to obtain OTCO Backflow Prevention Training Course Certificate of Competency during the probationary period.
Must have appropriate certification in water distribution operations or have the ability to obtain the required license during the probationary period.

Environmental Conditions: Usually an office environment, but with frequent outdoor site visits to review work situations; light travel to meetings and other functions around the city required.
