MAINTENANCE WORKER I (PART TIME / TEMPORARY)

Position Summary: 

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our Public Works team as a part time, temporary Maintenance Worker I. This role involves performing a variety of tasks related to infrastructure maintenance and repair. 

Responsibilities: 

• Perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in a variety of maintenance activities, including pick and shovel work, loading and unloading materials, street cleaning, and refuse collection 

• Assist with road repair and maintenance, including paving, patching, and raking 

• Dig trenches and lay pipe, conduit, and other underground utilities 

• Operate small power equipment and vehicles 

• Assist with animal control duties and provide support to the police department 

• Install and maintain street signs, guardrails, and barricades 

• Maintain safety procedures and ensure compliance with regulations 

• Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in varied weather conditions. 

Qualifications & Requirements: 

• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in general maintenance work.  

• Safe work practices 

• Safe driving principles and practices 

• Valid driver's license 

• Strong work ethic and attention to detail 

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 75 lbs.; exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, confining work space, electrical hazards, vibration, chemicals, dust, and mechanical hazards; availability for on call work. 

• Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
