TRADESWORKER II ENTRY SALARY: $50,104.74
TRADESWORKER III ENTRY SALARY: $55,240.50
Current recruitment is for our General Services Department.
Under general supervision, the Skilled Tradesworker assists in repairs, maintenance, inspections, and care of City buildings, apparatus, and facilities. Work involves specialized knowledge and skills in performing tradeswork at a semi-skilled level. Internal candidates have the opportunity to participate in a job proficiency guide. Upon successful completion of JPG program, candidate will be eligible to promote to next level for Skilled Tradesworker.
Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists in projects in accordance with general instructions.
- Lays, finishes, and repairs concrete sidewalks, floors, walls, and steps.
- Performs rough and finish carpentry work; builds, repairs, and refinishes furniture; builds and installs partitions, platforms, stagings, counter-dividers, and other similar work.
- Performs locksmith work, plumbing, and a variety of other trades tasks including roofing, glazing, painting, plastering, sanding & refinishing floors, and demolition & salvage work on City buildings, facilities, and recreation areas; remains on call 24/7 in the event of emergencies or problems.
- Assists in identifying maintenance and repair needs, addresses emergent issues, and provides skilled solutions.
- Responds, engages, and interacts with the public on a daily basis.
- Work is subject to review by a Building & Maintenance management or Skilled Tradesworker II or III.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver’s license is required.
This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides:
Hand tools, various heavy equipment, generators, pumps, barricades, spray guns, rollers, brushes, jointers, planers, power saws, and other fabricating equipment as assigned.
SKILLED TRADESWORKER I
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
Building & Maintenance:
Must obtain and maintain Forklift and Tow Equipment Certification within one (1) year of hire.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate AND two (2) years of maintenance, tradeswork, or other skilled experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
SKILLED TRADESWORKER II
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
Building & Maintenance:
- Forklift and Tow Equipment Certification is required.
- Scissor Lift Certification is required.
- Boom Lift Certification is required.
- Four years experience as a locksmith in lieu of certifications.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate AND three (3) years of maintenance, tradeswork, or other skilled experience OR four (4) years experience as a locksmith; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
SKILLED TRADESWORKER III
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
Building & Maintenance:

- Five years experience as a locksmith in lieu of certifications
Education and Experience:

- Visual acuity to make construction measurements
