What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solid Waste Technical Operator position at City of Clearwater?
Under general direction, the Solid Waste Technical Operator monitors, maintains, and ensures the proper operation and functionality of all solid waste processing equipment. Oversees use of equipment and ensures all proper safety measures are followed.
Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Oversees, monitors, maintains, and ensures the successful operations of the solid waste processing center; provides technical direction and guidance for equipment and general care and functionality of operations.
Maintains, repairs, and ensures the cleanliness and operational function of the processing equipment for the solid waste complex.
Loads, stacks, and fills trucks with products; provides help and skill within the scale house as needed; operates light to moderately specialized automotive equipment.
Directs, guides, and leads personnel to appropriate stations and processing centers within the complex; provides answers to questions and related concerns.
Performs extensive maintenance and repair work on various equipment throughout the complex; identifies areas of concerns, addresses problems, provides repair services, and ensures all functionality.
Wears safety apparel and follows all safety protocols and policies; performs pre and post -operational safety checks on equipment as needed.
Works with other staff and collaborates as part of a team and provides lead worker skills over small groups; communicates and engages professionally and courteously with other workers and the general public.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate AND two (2) years of experience operating specialized equipment or as a tradesworker; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
