The City of Clearwater is seeking an Intern to assist our Parks & Recreation Department's Special Events team in a variety of projects.
Salary:
Interns may work for an hourly rate or unpaid intern volunteer.
Intern Working for an Hourly Rate:
Freshman or Sophomore College Student - $14.00/hr.
Junior, Senior, or Technical/Vocational College Student - $15.00/hr.
Graduate Level College Student - $16.00
The duration of the internship is flexible to meet the needs of the department and the student's academic requirements. The maximum work hours are up to 25 hours per week and up to 9 months consecutively or up to 40 hours per week and up to 6 months consecutively.
The Parks & Recreation Special Events Intern will assist city event planners in organizing community events, including vendor and entertainment research and outreach and securing of these vendors. They will learn the inter-workings of a fast-paced office environment, assisting the team in the various missions that the Special Events office serves the city. The Intern will assist the city's volunteer coordinator with recruitment of volunteers, dispersing volunteers to events and activities, identifying volunteer projects, and more. They will be given a project to oversee an event or volunteer activity from start of planning through execution. They will be given a budget and minimal instruction so as to put into practice the elements needed to run a successful event or volunteer activity.

Researching best practices for events Recruiting vendors/partners for events Ensuring agreements with event vendors and partners are documented, saved, and followed through on Operational assistance on events Providing goods/services to those attending events following instruction of the internship supervisor Assisting the volunteer coordinator with City volunteering initiatives
- Valid State Driver's License Required
- Currently enrolled college student (undergraduate, graduate level, technical/vocational). Preferred majors/concentrations include Business Administration or Business Management.
- Knowledge and experience to successfully fulfill the duties and responsibilities listed above as this position will be ethical, hardworking, and a strong desire to learn. Experience can be personal or professional.
Salary : $27,040 - $52,000
