Possession and maintenance of Class A CDL within 1 year of hire date.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or G.E.D Certificate AND four (4) years of experience in varied construction, installation, and maintenance activities associated with water distribution with three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Under limited direction, the Water Distribution Foreman supervises, oversees, and monitors all operations of the water distribution and wastewater collection warehouse, water meter repair shop, field operations, and Utility Customer Service order dispatching and processing.
This current recruitment is for the Public Utilities department focused on Reclaimed Water Distribution.
Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversees, supervises, leads, and provides guidance for the maintenance and repair of the water distribution system, meter shop, field operations, customer service, and general operations.
- Assigns, coordinates, and schedules daily work for crews members; reviews time keeping and general payroll reports; performs daily work measure reports and ensures quality and skilled performance of activities; engages and communicates with contractors and vendors.
- Participates in employee selection, hiring, and training; prepares performance evaluations, initiates and documents disciplinary actions, provides counseling and personnel development and training.
- Supervises the installation of water meters, backflow preventers, fire hydrants, and valves; ensures proper methods are followed and safety measures taken; provides guidance, direction, and specialized knowledge.
- Oversees and assists with obtaining vendor quotes and completing warehouse material requisitions, issuing, and receiving; supervise distribution, monitoring, and processing of field service orders; provides customer service for various complaints regarding drinking water and other distribution systems.
- Monitors and provides leadership for the Public Utilities Warehouse for Water, Reclaim Water, and Sewer; performs inventory counts for audit requests; maintains inventory files, records, ledgers, and logs and ensures accurate accounting.
- Solicits, reviews, and evaluates bids; prepares purchase requisitions and researches specific or specialized products; prepares receipts, packing lists, and invoices for reconciliation.
- Visits and oversees job sites to ensure work is being completely safely and correctly; monitors crew adherence to policies and procedures; ensures all safety equipment is being worn; reports spills and other problems, track materials, and provides assistance when needed.
- Participates in meetings and maintains strong communication regarding activities and progress of City projects.
- Performs standby duty for after-hour responses; assists department in the event of an emergency and may be required to work odd or altered hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
