Compensation - $31.99 - 37.12/hr (DOQ)Position open until filled.To apply, click here: To read the full job description, click here: BRIEF DESCRIPTIONCity County Transportation provides a demand-response regional bus service to the elderly, disabled and general public residents of Johnson County, linking Cleburne, Joshua, and Burleson with Fort Worth (stops include Amtrak station) and other Johnson County cities. This includes, but not limited to, daily operations, grant management, regulatory compliance, employee supervision, evaluation, training, and vehicle maintenance. This position is also responsible for enhancing and promoting regional mobility in the service area by focusing on advocacy, customer services, mobility management, external relations, marketing, planning, and identifying growth opportunities. The position works closely with external stakeholders and funders including the Texas Department of Transportation and North Central Texas Council of Governments.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of principles and practices of public transit, human services, public planning, or a related field, and an understanding of local governments and elected leadership are desirable.Knowledge of principles and practices of leadership, motivation, team building, and conflict resolution.Knowledge of methods and techniques used in analyzing transit service performance and productivity.Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities with varied completion schedules.Effective communication skills, orally and in writing.Ability to analyze and identify trends from statistical and other data.Knowledge and experience to supervise, coordinate, delegate, and negotiate.Demonstrated ability to seek resources and make continued improvements to transit service.Demonstrated knowledge and ability to manage the many aspects of a transit operation.Demonstrated experience in transit planning, scheduling, routing, and budgeting.Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, staff selection, training, development, retention, and personnel management.Ability to create and maintain safe work practices and related regulations.Experience with budget management and sound financial and budgetary decisions.Ability to oversee repair of all department owned vehicles and preventative maintenance, while ensuring vehicle repair requests and work orders are prioritized and processed in a timely manner.Ability to work with external vendors for any services that cannot be performed inhouse.Experience needed to establish and maintain effective, harmonious, cooperative, and productive working relationships with the public, elected officials, members of boards and commissions, department heads, other employees of the City, and employees of other government agencies.Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations governing public transit systemsAbility to interpret Federal Transit Administration regulations and guidance related to assigned activitiesGood judgment to effectively and diplomatically deal with the public, some of whom may be irate and unreasonable.Skilled in public speaking.Ability to learn and follow policies and regulations.Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisionsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school graduate or equivalent; andFive (5) years of experience in supervising or managing public transit, state/federal transportation programs, public administration or a closely-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience as described below; ORBachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business, transportation, or a closely-related field, and three (3) years of experience in supervising or managing public transit, state/federal transportation programs, or a closely-related field; ORMaster’s Degree and one (1) year of experience. relevant experience.Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIREDA Valid Class C Texas commercial driver license (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving recordENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDSPrimarily in an indoor environment with the ability to operate outdoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during summer and winter months.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use the computer keyboard and mouse, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell; stand, walk, and stoop, or crouch.Occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic and/or caustic chemicals, and vibrations.
