Duties include loading garbage into trucks and assisting in clean-up of vehicle on a daily basis, operating various types of heavy-duty equipment and vehicles, and computer input and customer service.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to service and make minor repairs on equipment and to know safety standards and prevent hazards;Ability to learn Scale transaction computer program and other computer processesAbility to safely drive, back, and operate the heavy equipment on busy City streets paying close attention to other vehicles, pedestrians, team members, parked vehicles, overhead obstructions, tree limbs, etc.Ability to read a map to navigate the streets/routes for the City of CleburneAbility to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customersAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to work with mechanical, chemical, environmental and biological hazardsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school graduate or equivalent and one (1) years related experience; ORAny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesPreferred experience in driving large trucks and manual laborCERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIREDA Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver License with Airbrake endorsement or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving recordENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDSAbility to work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperatures swings, and inclement weatherSome exposure to odors, dust, fumes, and loud noises that are routinely encountered in trash collecting environmentTOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDStandard office equipment including multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, shredder, printer, etc.Track loader, motor grader, water truck, miscellaneous pumps, generators, tractor with batwing mower, zero turn mower and weed eater. Operates front-end loader, skid steer, refuse truck and other heavy equipment.Ability to handle tools and equipment with both hands and all fingers.
