Enforce aquatic facility rules and regulations. Provides members and guests with a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience. This is a non-supervisory position. No minimum number of hours are guaranteed.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESRequires knowledge of lifeguard skills and safety programsAbility to work in extreme outdoor conditionsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departmental employees and with the general publicRequires the ability to swimEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMust be at least 16 years of age with and prefer at least one (1) year of previous Lifeguard experience; ORAny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesCERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIREDSuccessful completion of American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course and successful completion of CPR/AED/First Aid course (training provided) within sixty (60) days of employment.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDSPrimarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during summer and winter months. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDStandard office equipment including multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, printer, etc.Anything regarding lifeguarding or emergency equipment.
