What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Lifeguard - Part-Time Seasonal position at City of Clermont?
This position is non-exempt. Fair Labor Standards Act overtime provisions will apply.
Please note that this is a part-time/temporary/seasonal position that is not eligible for benefits and veteran's preference does not apply
- Assists in some administrative duties such as daily updates, operational logs, work schedules, and front desk duties
- Assists in supervising the operational duties of the lifeguard staff.
- Conducts ongoing training and skill development with the lifeguards on a regular basis.
- Responds to emergencies according to safety policy and procedures; and completes proper documentation.
- Maintains the health and safety of users of the facilities and employees.
- Directs and assists in the enforcement of rules, regulations, and policies to guests, groups, and organizations.
- Applies resuscitation and administers medical aid in the treatment of minor accidents when necessary. Submits incident reports.
- Advises Facility Manager regarding conditions/practices that may pose a threat to health and safety.
- Performs regular maintenance duties to maintain a safe environment.
- Keeps accurate maintenance charts as required.
- Wears uniform, swimsuit, rescue tube, whistle, hip pack and shirt (as necessary.)
- Works weekdays and/or weekends. Working hours may vary from week to week.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One and a half (1 ½) years of professional lifeguard experience.
- Must be able to pass written and practical lifeguard certification test if not already certified.
- Must have the ability to work weekdays and/or weekends as required by aquatic program needs. Working hours may vary from week to week.
- Skilled in using a basic first aid medical kit.
- Current American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Current Lifeguard Certification.
- Valid Florida Driver's License (Class E).
In some cases, an equivalent combination of higher education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience is in a relevant and related field.
- Continual light work.
- Ability to make a water rescue as needed.
- Lifts up to 45 lbs.
- Requires frequent walking and standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, and bending.
- Good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- Good eyesight, hearing, and speech.
- Regular driving of vehicle.
Work Environment
Works outside in an environmentally uncontrolled space most of the time; and works in possibly adverse environmental conditions (e.g., sun, heat, cold, wind and rain) for periods of time; exposed to chemical products. It is essential that the Lifeguard Position is alert to safety hazards within their area of services.
