DAY AND NIGHT SHIFT AVAIABLE
JOB SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: preventative maintenance, building maintenance and repairs, towing, and assisting the mechanics with the repair of all citywide equipment. This individual must be available for Holidays and weekends and during emergencies. This individual may be needed to assist in other City Departments. Other duties as assigned.

- Perform preventative maintenance and complete minor repairs
- Cleans assigned work area and picks up tools and places them in appropriate cabinet/chest
- Assist with towing related activities
- Maintain detailed records of activities and completed work orders
- Respond to after hours and emergency calls after normal working hours and on weekends and holidays
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of:
- Procedures and methods related to area of assignment
- Basic mechanical repairs
- Tools, equipment, and materials relevant to area of assignment
- Safety procedures
- Inventory principles
- Recordkeeping principles
- Occupational hazards and safe work practices
Skill in:
- Using applicable tools and equipment related to area of assignment
- Using a computer and related software applications
Ability to:
- Drive various types of larger vehicles including pick up trucks and dump trucks
- Operate a variety of shop equipment and hand tools
- Perform basic mathematical calculations
- Communicate and use interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED High school diploma or equivalent.
CERTIFICATION/ LICENSURE:
Must have at the time of hire and be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
