What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commissioner of Water Pollution Control position at City of Cleveland?
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversight, management, inspection and repair of wastewater and stormwater collection systems and infrastructure, pump stations, and ancillary components and/or appurtenances within the City of Cleveland.
- Oversight of Pump/Lift Station and SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) system.
- Responsible for an operating budget of $39 million and staff that includes 128 FTEs (full-time equivalents), 96 FTEs are assigned to sewer operations and 32 FTE handle engineering, customer service, dispatch and administration. Approximately 85% of the employees belong to labor unions.
- Manage divisional staff; participate in hiring, performance management, training and discipline and/or grievances of employees.
- Responsible for budgeting, monitoring and acquisition of fleet, i.e., vehicles and/or related equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
- Prepares communications such as routine correspondence, reports, presentations and recommendations.
- Serves as representative of the City and/or Division at various meetings and functions.
- Reviews and approves engineering plans and blueprints, contracts, documents, estimates and other relative documents.
Preferred Requirements
- Knowledgeable of federal and state regulations and policies.
- Demonstrated communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate; Experience with SCADA, or comparable system or devices.
- Experience with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
