What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychologist - Forensic position at City of Cleveland?
SUMMARY
Responsible for preparing Court ordered mental health assessments. The issues to be addressed will include Emergency Hospitalization, Competency to Stand Trial, Sanity at the Time of the Act, Mitigation of Penalty, Domestic Violence, Risk Assessment, etc.
- Responsible for performing psychological tests, preparing evaluations for the Court, testifying in court regarding psychological evaluations of defendants.
- Responsible for preparing written reports in a timely manner.
- Provide clinical supervision to the Psychologist Assistant.
- Review and sign off on reports prepared by the Psychologist Assistant.
- Work with judges, probation officers, court personnel and various agencies.
- Provide quality service that continuously improves, that meets or exceeds public expectations, and that ensures all are treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect.

- Familiarity with both severe mental illness and mental retardation.
- Knowledge of the law concerning mental health disorders.
- Ability to integrate clinical and legal data and diagnose mental disorders.
- Ability to give and interpret legal data and diagnose mental disorders.
- Ability to give and interpret psychological tests.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with partner agencies and standards.
- Ability to organize and prioritize duties.
- The position requires one to use his/her knowledge of law and psychology to perform forensic psychological evaluations of defendants.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a license to practice in the state of Ohio as a Psychologist with at least one year work experience in the area of forensic psychology required.

Qualified applicants will be required to submit to testing and may be required to provide writing samples. Proof of education and employment references will be required before final interview. Employment predicated upon successful completion of criminal record check and drug testing required. You'll be considered a probationary employee for your first 180 days of employment.
