POSITION TITLE: Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II
POSITION SUMMARY: The Water and Wastewater Plant Operator II is responsible for performing essential operational and maintenance tasks at the Citys treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role includes monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating plant functions to uphold optimal performance. The Operator II also performs laboratory tasks, including sampling, testing, and analyzing data, to ensure water wastewater treatment processes meet TCEQ permit limits. This is not a full list of job duties; additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain wastewater and water treatment plants and associated systems.
- Conduct sampling, testing, and analysis of water samples, accurately recording data to meet permit requirements.
- Evaluate plant operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Assist in troubleshooting plant equipment, including pumps, and sludge systems.
- Follow all safety procedures and ensure compliance with environmental and biohazard protocols.
Pay Grade: 7
Salary: $45,506.24 - $65,984.04, paid bi-weekly, depending upon experience and qualifications
Location: Public Works Department
Status: Full-time, at-will, non-exempt
Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00 AM 5:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM 11:00 AM
This position includes on-call responsibilities, and applicants must be flexible to accommodate on-call requirements as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Licenses: Must hold a Class C Wastewater Treatment License and a Class C Groundwater License issued by TCEQ.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Completion of specialized courses in wastewater treatment is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in wastewater treatment plant operations preferred. Previous experience in a municipal setting and/or in supervising employees is also desirable.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of wastewater treatment principles, methods, and equipment, including activated sludge processes, sampling techniques, and safety standards.
- Additional Requirements: Valid Texas drivers license with an acceptable driving record. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
