Under frequent supervision, operates and assists in maintaining heavy equipment that collects and transports solid waste, maintains city-owned grounds, streets, and other duties as assigned. HEOs operate various heavy equipment in Streets & Sanitation Division including, but not limited to, street sweepers, vacuum trucks, grapple trucks, dump trucks, sanitation trucks, etc. Experience preferred but not required. Requirements include, but are not limited to: (1) Applicant must have proof of a four-year high school diploma or acceptable GED. (2) Applicant should possess and maintain a valid SC Driver’s License with a minimum Class B Commercial Driver’s License endorsement (CDL holders given preference)(3) Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years old. (4) Requires good customer service skills and good oral/written communication skills. (5) Work is predominately outside in a variety of climatological conditions year round. (6) Performs related work as assigned (7) CDL Holder is subject to DOT operating regulations to include random drug and alcohol testing.
