What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Program Assistant II - Concessions position at City of Clive (IA)?
Under the administrative direction of the Recreation Coordinator performs a wide variety of procedures necessary for the operation and successful implementation of recreation programming and special events. Job entails operation of various concession equipment, scorekeeping games/matches, making change, answering phones, and performing other front-line duties as required.
This position will be working at the Harbach Center, at 8505 Harbach Blvd, Clive, IA 50325 AND Campbell Park 12385 Woodlands Pkwy, Clive, IA 50325.
Examples of Essential Job Functions
- Provides customer service at concession stands
- Scorekeeper for youth basketball games and/or adult softball and sand volleyball matches.
- May assist Recreation Coordinator with planning, developing, coordinating, or leading recreational activities and programs.
- May supervise program participants in areas such as youth programs and activities, adult and youth sport leagues, various tournaments and special events.
- Drives City of Clive van to transport program participants as needed, if age 18 or older.
- Keep concession areas clean and safe.
- Perform daily cleaning of work area and food preparation machines. Assist others in keeping each facility clean and free of litter.
- Prepare and maintain all concession items according to the instructions.
- Make and return the appropriate change when handling money.
- Must wear staff uniform while on duty.
- Answer incoming phone calls pleasantly, take messages for staff and patrons.
- Enforce all general rules in a courteous manner and refer all guest concerns to the supervisor on duty.
Other Job Duties
- Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
- Attends training and orientation sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required
Continued education in High School or above.
Experience Required
Any work in recreation facilities preferred.
- Minimum age 15; or 18 if required to transport participants.

Physical Characteristics of the Job
Medium work requiring the exertion of up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally and up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force frequently.
Environmental Characteristics
The work is performed both inside and outside and includes seasonal exposure to heat and cold. The work may expose the employee to unpleasant social situations, significant work pace pressures and at times irregular work hours.

Thermometers, personal computer, general office equipment, computer printer, computer network, MSDS Documentation, personnel policies, dictionary, calculator, cash register, telephone, radio, PA system, lockers, coolers, various food preparation equipment which may include a pretzel warmer, hot dog steamer, pizza warmer, ice machine, slush machine, sno-cone machine, electric skillet, and popcorn machine.
