What are the responsibilities and job description for the GROUNDSKEEPER-CATS/SEASONAL position at City of Clovis, NM?
This is a seasonal, part time position working 30 hours a week for 5 months and is under the direct supervision of the CATS Executive Assistant. Performs duties required to maintain the transit facility and grounds. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with occasional schedule adjustments to accommodate for special projects, which includes some evenings and weekends.
Attend in-service safety briefings and training sessions
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wears safety gear as required
- Establish and post custodial and grounds keeping work schedule
- Properly use and maintain hand and/or power tools and equipment
- Care for established lawns and plant beds by weeding, trimming, edging, etc.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizer, insecticides and herbicides
- Proper use of trimmers, mowers, blowers, etc., to maintain lawns, walks, and parking lots
- Proper use of gardening tools to plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, trees, apply mulch
- Clears areas of trash and weeds
- Keep inventory of supply needs and submit requests to replenish
- Performs custodial services to maintain cleanliness of the building: offices, kitchen, restrooms, storerooms by sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, etc
- Organize and maintain storerooms and keep supplies stocked
- Minor building maintenance tasks and proper care of all equipment
- Safely operate company vehicle to purchase supplies
- May set up chairs & tables for meetings
- Supervise and control Community Service Workers
This is a small department and all employees are asked to perform other functions as needed
- A high school diploma or the equivalent is required and 1 year work experience which demonstrates ability and knowledge in grounds keeping and custodial functions.
- This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to: lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, frequent bending, kneeling, lifting and shoveling, read and understand written instructions, work outdoors exposed to the elements, have full range of physical motion to operate manual and powered equipment, and access areas by climbing stairs or ladders.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Position requires safety-toe boots.
