Job Summary:

The eight-week program will take place between June and July 2024 and is sponsored through a grant from the State of New Mexico Outdoor Equity Program and the City of Clovis. This role involves leading activities, ensuring the well-being of all campers, and fostering a spirit of teamwork and community.
**This position requires a fingerprint background check in addition to other pre-employment clearances in accordance with the City of Clovis policy.**

- Support the execution of the City of Clovis Summer Youth Program
- Leading or supporting daily activities
- Support Summer Youth Program outings as needed
- Preparation of snack for each group
- Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all program participants and maintain records of any incidents.
- Ensuring program rules are being followed.
- Participating in weekly staff meetings
- Supporting and leading youth by example
- Documenting projects through pictures and film
- Actively participating in all projects and games
- Helping with the overall maintenance of the Youth Recreation Building
- Have a fun and positive attitude Maintain program resources
- Abide by all City of Clovis personnel policies and procedures
- Maintain professional standards of performance, punctuality, demeanor and appearance at all times.
- Adhere to respectful style of coaching and intervention with youth to promote high standards of behavior.
- Perform tasks and responsibilities in a complete and timely manner.
- Exercise discretion and professional judgement at all times in keeping with the responsibilities for the care and welfare of the youth and their families
- Experience of working with children
- Ability to effectively communicate with youth and program leadership
- Ability to assist children and other staff in emergency situations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Visual and auditory ability to recognize environmental hazards
- Ability to enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures
- Ability to pass a background check
Licenses and Certificates:
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications by the start date of the program.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine.
- Job responsibilities include both inside and outside duties.
- Flexibility and patience are required.
- Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision.
- After-hours work may be required.
- Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
- Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, and moving light furniture may be required.
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
- Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
