GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, performs skilled technical work in the maintenance and repair of electrical instruments and equipment at the City wastewater plants and pump stations. Work involves inspecting for and repairing malfunctions and identifying causes of malfunctions or breakdowns. Reports to the Director of Water Reclamation.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, installs, repairs, maintains low voltage (
- Maintains telemetry units at the treatment plants and pump stations.
- Assists with planning, designing, and installation of new electrical upgrades.
- Performs work under supervision of Facilities Electrician.
- Accomplishes preventative and predictive maintenance program routines for electrical equipment and systems.
- Must have working knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
- Requires knowledge in the operation of test equipment and related hand / power tools.
- Reports and documents results of inspections and work performed.
- Performs cleanup and housekeeping tasks of the work area, tools and equipment used.
- May transition to independent work after demonstrated knowledge of plant electrical, lift station electrical, and mechanical systems and endorsement from Facilities Electrician.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared or undeclared emergency.
- Overtime may be required and may be required to work on a rotating stand-by schedule.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs manual labor and related tasks installing sewer pipes, digging ditches, etc. with the assistance from utilities collection crew.
Performs other related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one (1) year experience in the electrical trade and one (1) year experience or training in the electronic trade or any equivalent combination of training or experience for a total of greater than two (2) years.
Will need to pass a safety / electrical skills test to demonstrate basic electrical knowledge required for the position
Must be able to successfully pass additional security background checks necessary to access high security areas.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Florida driver's license.
Possession of a Class "C" Wastewater Collections Certification.
Ability to obtain TWIC card within 90 days of employment.
