Summary
A successful candidate will play an active role in the City of College Park's existing operational success. The purpose of the position is to assist in the development of the City. Successful performance helps ensure the orderly development of the city, affects the quality of economic opportunity for City residents, and affects the image of the City.
Essential Functions
Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate available guidelines and procedures as well as interpret precedents. The Economic Development Project Manager is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and completing economic development projects and recruiting new businesses to the City. The primary focus of this position is to implement the City's economic development goals and policies as they relate to the revitalization of the Old National Highway corridor. This includes business recruitment, business retention, marketing, and promoting the City's economic development vision to the development community.
- Assists the Director in the day-to-day activities of the Economic Development Department which directly relate to business recruitment and retention.
- Engages developers and investors as a function of new business development and business expansion efforts.
- Facilitates target marketing of the City for new business development and business expansion efforts through meetings and various marketing strategies.
- Addresses and resolves concerns of companies regarding Economic Development.
- Assists the Director in special projects.
- Assists the Director with concerns about the transactions over city-owned properties.
- Assists with negotiation, preparation, processing, and implementation of disposition and development agreements, purchase and sale agreements, incentive agreements, contracts, resolutions, and requests for proposals / qualifications.
- Keeps up to date with local, state, and regional business trends.
- Builds strong relationships with local businesses and local associations.
- Prepares reports, plans, and strategies for consideration by the City Council and Development Authority.
- Engages small business owners, community organizations, and government agencies in economic development activities.
- Assists the Director with budget preparation.
- Performs other duties as required.
