Maintenance Technician II - Westside Community Center
About the Job: In this position, you will perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties. You will be responsible for assisting with events, facility setup and take-down, and perform janitorial duties at the Westside Community Center.
Job Type: Full timeWorks Schedule: Monday - Friday with some evenings and weekend hours needed based on scheduled events or maintenance projects; in office presence required
As a Maintenance Technician II, you will:
- Maintain and repair buildings, structures, drainage systems and grounds
- Perform repair duties in area of assignment, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC and masonry within budget
- Generate and complete work orders on maintenance tasks ensuring compliance with City policies, procedures, public safety standards, and aesthetic guidelines
- Perform field inspections checking for wind damage, vandalism and safety issues
- Manage safety protocols, including maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous chemicals, conducting fire and safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations; Ensure the safety of all participants and staff
- Oversee seasonal maintenance staff with training, safety protocol, scheduling, project assignments and janitorial services scheduling
- Provide facility custodial support during events and programs; assist with setup and breakdown of facility events and programs, including organizing chairs, tables, projectors, program supplies, decorations, etc.
- Assist users with various event and program needs during their events and programs; interact with guests, providing information and conveying area rules
- Assist with accurate and timely completion of personnel and administrative reports
- Perform daily custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, restroom cleaning, vacuuming, removing bags of trash, external facility/parking lot trash pickup, as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and vision

- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of full-time, professional experience in facility maintenance, event set up, or experience in a related field

- Proficient in basic computer skills and comfortability using Microsoft software such as Outlook
- Experience working in or maintaining aging or historic facilities, with an understanding of the unique challenges and maintenance needs they may present
- Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing issues related to HVAC systems, plumbing, flooring, and other key facility infrastructure
