About the Job: In this position, you will work in a variety of roles, including interpretation, environmental education, and supervising volunteers.
Job Type: Seasonal
Work Schedule: Normal work schedule will vary depending upon the needs of the department. Hours worked will usually be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with one weekend shift. Total hours worked may vary but will average 27 hours per week not to exceed 1,500 hours annually.
Work Location: 1805 N. 30th St., Colorado Springs, CO
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Approximate dates of employment will be April - Sept. Scheduled hours will vary based on department needs. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.

As a SEASONAL - Park Interpreter at the Garden of the Gods, you will:
- Provide information and directions to park visitors
- Inform park visitors of park rules and regulations
- Create, organize, and/or administer interpretive programs; conduct guided nature walks
- Work with volunteer and community groups
- Complete incident reports and other routine documentation
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the local environment, including geology and ecology concepts
- Knowledge of environmental education and natural resources
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Have college-level coursework in environmental studies, natural resources, park management, geology, biology, or a related field
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Experience working in a park, visitor center, or museum setting Experience creating and delivering interpretive programs
Work is performed outdoors with possible exposure to extreme weather conditions, dust, and pollen. This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally; stand, sit, stoop, climb, and bend for extended periods; and hike up to six miles.
