This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Anticipated dates of employment will be January through June. Normal work schedule will vary based on department needs but will be between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. daily, 40 hours per week. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.
Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
- Communicate with Manitou Incline visitors; provide information regarding state, county, and city public health orders and recommendations; encourage promotion of best public health and safety practices in regional parks and open spaces
- Monitor daily Incline reservations; check-in trail users; and answer questions regarding the Free Incline Reservation System
- Inspect and clean trailhead area on regular intervals throughout work shift
- Complete maintenance logs and incident reports; record daily statistics
- Communicate with Regional Parks, Trails & Open Space staff, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and the Manitou Police Department when non-compliance occurs
- Ensure staff compliance of items listed in the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Colorado Springs and the City of Manitou Springs regarding the current management of the Manitou Incline
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Excellent customer service skills
- Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Experience working in a park, visitor center, or museum setting
- Experience patrolling natural areas in a soft and/or hard enforcement capacity
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to stand, stoop, climb, and bend frequently; and lift and carry up to 60 pounds frequently.

Primary Work Environment - Outdoors in all weather conditions
