The purpose of this job is to take calls for service (most frequently traffic crash related) in order to relieve the burden on sworn patrol functions which frequently requires the operation of a marked department vehicle. Responds in person to calls for service, investigates minor traffic crashes, and issues the appropriate citation(s). Assigned front desk operations on a rotational basis requiring a full MULES (Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System) certification and provides customer service to those entering the police department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description
- Responds to non-fatality traffic related calls for service and completes mandatory reports for submission to Missouri State Highway Patrol, including blocking/directing traffic, monitoring and transmitting radio traffic, interacting with citizens and issuing citations.
- Handles misdemeanor calls for service with no suspect information and completes appropriate report.
- Maintains the MULES (Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System) terminal by entering/confirming/removing stolen property, confirming warrants for wanted persons, entering/removing endangered missing persons including runaways), sending messages to other agencies and sharing vital information nation-wide.
- Operates the front desk of the police department, being the first point of customer service contact when citizens enter the police department.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Less than 1-year or related experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) certification within six months of hire.

Position is eligible for a $1.00 per hour shift differential for all hours worked between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. This position is an essential function and will be required to work some holidays/weekends.
